Abstract

Water quality of aquaponic system is the study about the content of the water and its effect to any living organism that affected by the water. Aquaponic system is an integrated design of aquaculture and hydroponic agriculture where peoples use the water from the fish pond/tank as the water distributed to the plants/vegetables. The purpose of the study is to analyse the water content and remove the possible harmful material to provide a safe and clean product, fish and the plants. This system also introduces the space saving design of modern agriculture especially for people in urban area. By having a various design of aquaponic installation, it can be custom to meet the requirement from the user as the system can be installed in storey structure and etc. The fish used for the project were koi carp as the replacement of tilapia and the waste products are used as the fertiliser resource for the plants. The plant used is ‘pak choi’ which is one of the famous local leafy vegetables and the data regarding the growth rates are discussed in the report with the complete analysis of water quality.
