Abstract

Renewable energy is an energy that comes from natural resources. Technologies involved in renewable energy can turns this energy into a very useful purposes such as electricity, heat, chemicals or mechanical power. One of the example of this renewable energy is sunlight which can be used to produce electricity by using solar cells device. Solar cells consists of two types of semiconductor technology which are inorganic solar cells and organic solar cells. Nowadays, organic solar cells had become more interesting as a solution for its drawbacks over inorganic solar cells had been found. For organic solar cells, transporting layers plays an important roles as this layer has high work function which can contributes to the increase in efficiency of solar cells. In order to deposits this transporting layer, there are many techniques that are available such as printing and coating technique, doctor blading technique, casting technique and many more. However, each of these technique are not compatible with roll-to-roll process and not able to produce smooth and even surface of transporting layer. Spray coating technique on the other hand can solve this problem as this techniques are very compatible with roll-to-roll process and able to form a smooth surface of transporting layer of organic solar cells. Different parameters such as speed, volume and distance is considered and studied in this project in order to produce smooth surface layer by using spray coating technique. This technique is very suitable in producing a very smooth surface and large area of transporting layer in organic solar cells.
