Abstract

Most of the industry nowadays produced Flue Gas Desulphurisation (FGD) gypsum including Malaysia itself. The industry is currently facing problems due to the increases of FGD radius as the such storage facility need to be design properly. The FGD gypsum retained day by the day and can reach a height of 15m and above which will produce tailing dam. To overcome this problem, knowledge and understanding of the characteristics of the FGD gypsum such as an amount of settlement occur is very important before constructing or designing a storage area orderly and safely. Therefore, the aims of this thesis is to identify the effect of curing time and curing pressure of the FGD gypsum by performing tests of one-dimensional consolidation test or oedometer test. In addition, physical properties test or index properties test is also performed.
