Abstract
Knowledge o f gelmplasm di versity h as a signi ficant impact on th e improvement of crops plant. Therefo re , it is necessary to in vestigate th e genetic diversity in rice gelmplasm in order to broaden genepool and the geneti c vaJiation in future ric e breeding. Nine representative samples from Malaysian scented lice ger mplasm we re subjec ted to Polymerase Chain Reaction (pe R) amplification analysis. A total of 23 band s were generated usin g Ml3 Uni versal plimer. 17 bands (74 percent) were polymolph ic whereas 6 bands (26 percent) were monomorphic. The highest genetic similarity coefficient is 0.909 and the lowest is 0.5 71. A dendogram subjec ted to UPGMA cluster based on similarity coe ffi cient were analysed by usin g computer so ftware NTSYSpc. The samples were div ided into two cluster at 70 percent genetic simil ality coefficient. The Gnding from this stud y could be used as a preliminaty data for fu rther genetic analysis.
