Abstract

A study on the diversity of Zingiberaceae at Waterfall Trail in Kubah Nati ona l Par:< has been carried out from Jul y 2006 until February 2007. A I hectare plot with 9 transe cts of 10:J m x 4 m was established at Waterfa ll Trail using ' transect sampling ' or ' belt transect'. The total number of individuals recorded is 40 whi ch including 5 genera and 5 species. The most dominant spec ies is Etlingera velutina subsp. longipeduncu/ala with a total of22 individuals that covers 55% of the plot. The least abundant species are Hornstedtia tomenlosa and Alpillia glabra var. reticulala with a total number of 4 individua ls recorded for each species. The diversity index fo r the whole I hectare plot is 1.756.
