Abstract

Citrus limon (lemon) is aromatic smell tree from family Rutaceae. The fruit is high demand in production, contain high nutritional value and important use for medicinal purposes which aid in chronic diseases due to the presence of biological components such as carotenoid, flavonoid and limonoids. The purposes of this study emphasizes on callus induction of C.limon from node and internodes explants. The explants were cultures onto Murashige and Skoog (MS) media supplemented with various concentration and combination of plant hormone regulator (PGR) such as 2,4-Dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D), 6-benzylaminopurine (BAP) and Indole-3-butyric acid (IBA). Study on callus induction was carried out quite successful. Result showed that callus was induced supplemented with 2,4-D at 2.5 mg/L combined with BAP at 2.0 mg/L was effective in the induction of callus formation whereas it was found that by using the plant growth regulators combination of 2,4-D and IBA showed a poor callus induction of this plant. Future work should utilize other types at different concentrations of PGR and also the use of different explants.
