Abstract
The study entitled "Non-Stereotype Woman Character in the film" is a research paper aimed to identifying more about the character of a submissive female stereotype in society. Stereotype is a general view or a majority opinion of a society on a matter, and the matter becomes a public standpoint without. This study was conducted in the study of the stereotypes that the community raised against submisive women. Thus, researcher collected information from written materials, and also made film analysis of the film Embun and the Pontianak Harum Sundal Malam film that used female character as the main character and highlighted the submissive women who eventually rise up but had a different representation of women in dealing their problem. Ultimately, the researcher showed through a video project how a real woman deal with disrespect from society.
