Abstract

Up to 2010, only one play by Ibsen has been presented to the Malaysian audience. The Wild Duck was translated into the Malay language and called Itik Liar and was presented in Kuala Lumpur in 1994. This play dis not succeed with the Malaysian audience, nor received many good reviews from the Malaysian Theatre Council (TEMA), who pointed out that Itik Liar could not be appreciated in Malaysia because it failed to present issues relevant to Malaysian society.
