Abstract

Bidayuh Biatah Pop song is growing and gelling known. However, through observation and inJormationfi'om inJormants, Bidayuh Biatah Pop ,ongs stili have a shortage in the variety of styles and genres. Thus, the researcher incorporate Pop Jazz styles of Fourplay into the creation oj a new Bidayuh Biatah Pop song Analysis on songs Jrom the Fourplay in terms ojstructure and harmony is carried out to produce a new work that portray the music characteristics ojFourplay. In addition, analysis on the theme and lyrics often used in Bidayuh Biatah Pop song is performed to assist the lyric writing ojthe new work. The new work was written in the structure of A-B-Improvisation-B and song lyrics will be written in Bidayuh Biatah. For the purpose oJ validation, the researcher chose three members toform an expert panel to assess the work. The panel consists oj a composers. a lyricists and a Bidayuh Biatah and Pop Jazz musician and educator. The panel were asked questions on the appropriateness oj incorporating Pop Jazz s~vle in the creation oj new Bidayuh Biatah Pop song. They alsa look into the lyric writing and appropriate of it in the new composition Researcher hope, the creation of a new Bidayuh Biatah Pop song in Pop Jazz style can diversify the styles and genres ofthe exisling songs.
