Abstract

This study was conducted to compare the species diversity and relative abundance of bats captured at two different elevations in Kubah National Park. A total of 260 individuals of bats from 21 species of six families were caught at lower elevation, while 122 bats comprised of 15 species from 5 families were captured at upper elevation by using 20 mist nets and three harp traps at each elevations between August and December 2006. The most commonly ob erved bat at lower elevation was Hipposideros cervinus which comprised of 63.84%, while Penlhelor Illcasi was mostly abundance at upper elevation which comprised of 45.10% of the total captures. The daily cumulative graph showed igns of leveling off from the twelveth sampling-nights. Statistical analysis shows that the diversity index at upper el vatioll (H'= 0.77026) is significantly higher compared to at lower elevation (H'= 0.61850).
