Abstract

Batik industry involves the use of chemicals which detrimental to the users and environment. The development of this research, a new formula of residual waste consolation was introduced as an alternative material in the process of making batik. The result of the experiment, F1-F4 were obtained. FAP (F4) is the most optimal with appropriate content and sago waste appropriate formula as alternative paraffin. Use of batik block and tjanting technique, FAP can give better result with printing technique compare the paraffin. The result of the experimentation of mordant from sago waste shows the sago ash can absorb color better than sago effluent. This is because sago ash containing activated carbon consolation of properties similar to the exist mordant. The results of this research demonstrate the potential of sago waste as an alternative material in the production of batik. It can also reduce the use of chemicals as well as providing a clean environment.
