Abstract
The Penang Art Gallery is regarded as an intermediary that influences the development of the country’s art. Thus, the study of promotional strategies by the art gallery is done to investigate the role of artists and the community in an effort to promote the exhibited works, besides obtaining the viewpoints of visitors to the exhibition. The researcher interviewed staff, artists and distributed questionnaires to visitors. Research results suggested that the promotional aspects (communication) can be effectively through artwork, activities, use of interactive exhibitions, and the role of artists and visitors are important in raising awareness of the importance of art and foster the development of local arts.
