Abstract

The purpose of this project is to develop an Internet Relay Chat with based on connectionless protocol (using UDP protocol) for UNIMAS labs. This system is unlike ordinary chatting program. Instead of using TCP (Transmission Control Protocol) the system supports UDP (User Datagram Protocol) that offer least traffic constrained when use. Besides that, it maybe possible to integrate this project with the implementation of the UNIMAS virtual campus project. In addition, the system can be further enhanced in order to satisfy user's needs in the future. This system is developed fully in Java language. This allows the system to be implemented over various platforms. With that it is hoped that the aim of this project to provide a IRC system with user friendly interface and offers more privacy can be achieved by the end of the implementation. Meanwhile, any possible enhancements onto the system will be taken into account and documented for future works.
