Abstract
The Orang Ulu have more than 10 races living on the Baram River which is one of the longest rivers in Sarawak. This study is especially about the Kiput People belonging to the Orang Ulu ethnic group. The Kiput settled in Kuala Tutoh, Baram and is one of the minorities in the Baram River. There are also these settlements in some of the less-known and fewer settlements in Brunei Darussalam. Like the other Orang Ulu people, the Kiput have a distinctive uniqueness of its culture. Clothing is also in a cultural context where every Orang Ulu race in Sarawak is different from one another. This research aims to identify the characteristics of traditional women's clothing in Kiput at Kuala Tutoh, Baram. Each traditional dress has its own distinctive features. The question is, what are the features in this traditional fashion? This paper also examines how this traditional fashion works to the Kiput people as well as to analyze the steps to maintain the traditional Kiput women's fashion. The rationale for this study is to make the introduction to the culture of the Kiput People who are endangered in Malaysia.
