Abstract

This study is about the identity of transgender. The main objective to be achieved in this study is to study the formation of transgender identity and its application through a sociological perspective in the narrative method. Furthermore, this study is also to examine factors that influence processes of transgender adaptation in establishing their identity as well as what mechanisms are implemented to deal with the stresses that exist throughout the process of forming a transgender identity. This study is a narrative study that borrows a qualitative method where researchers need to carry out field work in the respective units as well as the streets around the city. Respondents are citizens of Malaysia. The study findings will discuss themes raised from data collected through narrative sharing sessions with respondents. This study uses the primary basis by collecting primary data with scholarly articles related to this issue. This study will, therefore, discuss the issue of transgender identity formation and other similar aspects that emerge to help the general public better understand this issue.
