Abstract
The purpose of this study is to identify the main factor affecting dropout. This study also aimed to find out whether there are any differences and similarities between gender and all the five factors; school-related, job-related, family-related, economic and individual. The study utilized a survey approach employing three sets of questionnaires specifically designed to cater for three different groups of respondents; dropouts, parents and teachers. The sample comprised 79 dropouts, 49 parents and 17 teachers. Overall, the findings revealed that the most prominent factor affecting dropouts is economic. Therefore, school administrators played the main role in reducing the dropout rates by creating awareness, providing counseling, motivational talk, seminar and other programmes that being recommended in this study.
