Abstract

This study is conducted to examine the relationship between coping, emotional intelligence and life satisfaction. A sample of 64 students from Faculty of Cognitive Sciences and Human Development, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak participates in this study by filing up measures for coping, emotional intelligence and life satisfaction. Pearson correlation test is used to determine the relationship between coping and life satisfaction, coping and emotional intelligence, and emotional intelligence and life satisfaction while Hierarchical Regression test is used to determine the moderating effect of emotional intelligence in relationship between coping and life satisfaction. Correlation analysis showed that there is a weak relationship between coping and life satisfaction, moderate and significant relationship between coping and emotional intelligence, and emotional intelligence and life satisfaction. Hierarchical Regression analysis showed that coping is moderated by emotional intelligence in predicting life satisfaction. Limitation and recommendation for future study were discussed.
