Abstract
This report is describing about Lean Manufacturing and the benefit of adopting Lean Manufacturing in production and manufacturing industry. The purpose of this study is to know how far the lean manufacturing had been implementing in Malaysian industry. The concept of lean manufacturing is eliminating all the waste which focuses to the 7 wastes. These 7 wastes are overproduction, waiting, transportation, non-value-added-processing, inventory, defects and underutilized people. This implementation of lean is divided into three phases which are core disciplines, consolidation, and continuous improvement. In this study, 60 companies are involved which come from variety of operation of the product. From the data that gathered from the questionnaires, interviews and mails survey, the implemented result show that only 16 companies implement this technique. Most of these 16 companies produce the part for automotive and machine equipment for industry. Mostly the companies that implement lean their owner for the company is from Japan country. For further work of the recommendation for this study, the company that involved must be sure that they already implementing lean. More company must be involved to this study to give the exactly rate of percentages of implementation of lean in Malaysian industry. By that the exactly benefit implementation of lean and percentages responses to the elimination of 7 wastes will give the exactly answer to the current status of implementation of lean in manufacturing industries in Malaysia.
