Abstract
The purpose of this project is to conduct a research on the effectiveness of fire safety management unit at the organization. The safety and health of the employees at the workplace have been considered as an important issue lately. Besides, the government enforces the employer to provide a safe workplace to their employees. The objectives of this project are to know the demographic factors of respondents, perception of the effectiveness of the unit, and the relationship between demographic factors, instruction and policy of the organization, commitment, training, and environment of workplace with the perception on the effectiveness of the unit. This research was done at BERNAS, CP Tower and the respondents were chosen from the workers by using random sampling method. While the questionnaires and data collection were distributed and collected by one of the managers at BERNAS. The respondents were given about two weeks after the date of distribution to complete their questionnaires. The result of the analysis stated that almost of the respondents are in a positive think about the effectiveness of the unit which is about 44 person (88%). Besides, all of the factors such as instruction and policy of the organization, commitment, training, and environment of workplace have significant relationship with the respondents' perception which is instruction and policy of the organization (r=0.783, p=0.00), commitment (r=0.658, p=0.00), training (r=0.451, p=0.01), and environment of workplace (r=0.512, p=0.00). While demographic factors showed that there is no significant difference with the perception which is gender (p=0.912), age (p=0.739), and working period (p=0.657). To conclude, this research is very important and further research should be conducted to know the other factors that influence the effectiveness of the unit. Moreover, the organization could use the practice that can increase the function of the unit to assure the workplace in a safe condition. Thus, the objective of the government to achieve zero accident at the workplace will be successfully accomplished.
