Abstract

This stuck examines doctors and nurses perception toward Quality of Work Life (QWL) in Sarawak General Hospital, Kuching. It identifies the overall QWL level and individual level Jr othe different indicators (reward, safety, social interaction within organization, autonomy, feedback, job design and job involvement) in determining QWL at the work place. This study also looks into the priorities of the different indicators and the differences of QWL level based on the demographic characteristics of respondents (gender, position, age, Year of service and marital status). Respondents consist of 30 doctors and 30 nurses were chosen randomly and questionnaires were used in this study. The result showed that the level of QWL in Sarawak General Hospital was at a moderate level (Mean = 3.24). The findings showed, respondents were most satisfied with the job involvement at work place (Mean = 3.64) and least satisfied with reward given (Mean = 2.33). When respondents were asked for their priorities in determining their QWL, the result showed the reward indicator was given the first priority. In addition, the result however did not show any differences on the level of QWL based on their demographic characteristics
