Abstract

The purpose of this study was to look at the differences in working styles, focusing on the teamwork between the 11"' Royal Malay Regiment and Royal Malaysian Air Force in Kuching. This study hopes to identify the relationship between selected demographical factors (position of employment, age and marital status) and the four styles of teamwork (communicator, collaborator, contributor and challenger) based oil Parker Team Player Survey (PTPS). In addition, it also aims to identify the most dominant teamwork style in both studied organizations. There were 62 respondents from H"' Royal Malay Regiment and 26 respondents from Royal Malaysian Air Force involved in this study. Four respondents from 11'h'Royal Malay Regiment and two respondents from Royal Malaysian Air Force from the management department of each organization were interviewed. There were no significant differences between the demographical factors such as position of employment, age and marital status with the styles of teamwork for both the regiment and the air forces. In conclusion, the 11th Royal Malay Regiment and Royal Malaysian Air Force Kuching base has similar teamwork styles. The researcher has suggested action should be taken by both organizations and the suggestions for the future study
