Abstract

White pepper berries is one of the Malaysia's key export. Based on a study of Malaysian Pepper Board, the price of pepper at the farm level can reach RM36,500 per tons compared to other crops in Malaysia. At present, processed pepper berries are graded manually. This process is time consuming and can cause error as it is very much dependent on the experience of the pepper grader. To prevent this problem, we proposed Automated Pepper Berries Sorting System using Arduino for controlling the machine and Android application for monitoring the result of the pepper berries. The machine will automatically grade the pepper berries by using a colour sensor for detection of grade. Various colour sensor will be tested to get the best accuracy for grading the pepper berries.
