Abstract

This study aims to explore the teachers' motivation towards online teaching and learning during the Covid-19 pandemic in Ranau, Sabah. It is mainly focused on the issues, challenges, factors, and strategies that influenced the motivation they had been passed as a teacher. Self-efficacy theory is used in this study. This study is using qualitative methodology and has been conducted at teachers in Ranau district, Sabah. A set of interview questions is used as a research instrument in this study. The data was collected based on interviews of 6 informants in this organization. All the data collection has been analyzed and discussed by the researchers. Factors impacting teacher's motivation during the Covid-19 pandemic are paramount to investigate their problems towards online teaching and learning, experiences, and challenges they faced. The challenges discussed by the teachers included technology issues, conditioning students to participate in ODL, technological experience, and pedagogical change. Hence, to solve this challenge there are several strategies to suggest remedial measures to improved teachers' motivation. The findings from this study were essential to increase awareness and concern of teachers' motivation. The few issues that affect the teachers' motivation have been discussed by the informants. Thus, from the findings that have been analyzed, the suggestion and recommendations were made to the organization and future researchers.
