Abstract

This report described the efficient explant surface sterilization protocol for in vitro propagation of an ornamental plant Fittonia verschaffeltii, nerve plant. Healthy and undamaged ex plant sources that chosen were washed under running tap water for I 0 minutes. Next, explants were pre-soaked by Tween 20 which added 3-4 drops into sterile distilled water for 20 minutes followed by rinsing three times with sterile distilled water. Surface sterilization with 70% ethanol for 30 seconds followed by 20% of commercial bleach that added with 2-3 drops of Tween 20 for 10 min proved most effective for surface sterilizing in leaf explants of Fittonia verschaffeltii.
