Abstract

vii ABSTRACT Briefly, this study about the relevant function or role of the bidayuh’s traditional costume as one of cultural heritage that symbolizes their racial identity and its importance to bidayuh community itself. The study was conducted among bidayuh community in Serian, Sarawak. Researcher is using method of data collection through secondary data that is from library research such as books, journal, article while primary data is from fieldwork such as observation and interview. The fieldwork is in bidayuh village near area of Serian, Sarawak. Researcher will choose four residents of that bidayuh village as her/him respondents. A qualitative method of data analysis is a method used by the researcher to analyse all data collection. Related study of bidayuh’s traditional costume in Sarawak can contribute to public knowledge and society about the relevant function or role of bidayuh’s traditional costume as a one of cultural heritage that symbolizes their racial identity and its importance. This research finding may also contribute to the preservation of culture heritage that threatened by modernization.
