Abstract
The Sarawak Malay dialect is one of spoken dialect in Sarawak. As known, Sarawak is the largest state in Malaysia. So, variations of the Sarawak Malay dialect are existed. This research aims to study phonology of the Sarawak Malay Dialect at Kampung Tambirat, Asajaya Kota Samarahan. This qualitative study uses which is interviews method for data collection. A total of four native speaker of Kampung Tambirat were made as informants. One hundred basic vocabulary and domains used as instrument. This study found that there are eight vowels /i/, /e/, /ɛ/, /a/, /ə/, /u/, /o/, /ɔ/ and 19 consonants /p/, /b/, /t/, /d/, /k/, /g/, /ʔ/, /ʧ/, /ʤ/, /m/, /n/, /ɲ/, /ŋ/, /s/ /ɣ/, /h/, /l/, /w/, /j/. Four vowel clusters /au/, /ia/, /ua/, /ai/ and six consonants clusters /pl/, /gr/, /mp/, /ŋk/, /nt/, /mb/. In terms of syllable structure, there are five main patterns, which are V, VK, KV, KVV and KVK.
