Abstract

Question bank system for learning Mathematics for rural area kids (QBS) is a Sugarizer-based mathematics learning platform made for rural area kids. The system is made for the kids in Kampung Muhibbah, Kota Samarahan, Sarawak to allow them to get their learning materials and resources without having to go online as their village is low in internet coverage. Besides, the QBS allows the tuition teacher to provide the learning materials into the system. This thesis presents the development of QBS. The main objective of this thesis is to provide an offline learning platform through Raspberry Pi learning server loaded with Sugarizer platform. The users scope are kids from Kampung Muhibbah aged 10 to 11 years old and the subject use for this system is Mathematics. Due to the limited internet access, they do not have the access to get learning materials and resources other than from school’s textbooks. They also are very young and for them to go outside the rural areas are restricted unless accompanied by their guardian. Thus, the QBS is proposed to cater the problem. The QBS is developed under a Sugarizer platform which provides basic Sugar features and activities. Through the Sugarizer features, QBS will be developed as on the activity in the Sugarizer platform. The advantages of this Sugarizer is that it can be access from any modern browser, mobile, tablet or desktop. In conclusion, the system can cover the problem and thus fulfilling its objectives.
