Abstract

Internet access is one of the important platforms that help us in acquiring knowledge. Most of the knowledge resources can found in internet. In Malaysia today, most of the area in Malaysia are providing internet services. However, there is a significant of rural area especially in Sarawak and Sabah are not covered with the internet access. The problem of lacking of internet access affecting the community in rural areas in Malaysia in difficult to discover and acquiring knowledge resource materials and knowledge sharing. Another problem to community in rural areas are that the hardcopy learning resources materials are difficult to deliver in. Thus, the proposed system which is offline knowledge sharing and collective captive portal on a low-cost single board device may help to resolve the problem of community in rural areas, which to provide an offline web-based system that providing digital educational learning materials to the users, and also provide features that allow users to share and preserve their knowledge for community with the system. The proposed system was tested with User Acceptance Test and it is accepted by community, as they are believing the proposed system is useful to use for learning under an environment with no internet access.
