Abstract

Knowledge on tropical tadpoles is insufficient because they have been rarely studied in the past especially on Borneo, on account of life history differences in morphology, diet and breathing mode compared to those of the adults. This study on the growth and development was based on 18 tadpoles of Limnonectes palavanensis from Kubah National Park. The late stages of development of the tadpoles starting with stage 24 until stage 43 were recorded using the developmental stages of Gosner (1960). Information for development, such as total length (TTL), body length (BL) and tail length (TAL), and duration for metamorphosis were recorded. It takes about 82 days to grow from stage 24 to stage 43 and about 90 days to complete metamorphosis.
