Abstract

This study attempt to investigate the challenges of digital piracy toward the Malaysian film industry. Nowadays, online piracy and downloading of copyright material especially movie and TV show is a significant issue in Malaysia. In the world of Internet, everyone can easily pirate online for free. This has caused a huge impact to the local film industry and which in turn affects the economy of country. In addition, this study also looked and analysed the current issue of piracy facing by the local film industry. While the study adopting the qualitative method which is via in-depth interview to collect the data from the potential respondents. Finally, the study makes recommendations for the significant parties in order to solve the issue of digital piracy faced by Malaysian film industry.
