Abstract

There were not many studies on the Dayak working single mothers, especially in Sarawak. This study was conducted to explore the type of stressors faced by the Dayak working mothers and the strategies to cope with stress. A semi-structured interview was conducted on four participants who are working single mothers age between 30-50 years old. The result of this study is that the type of stressors faced by the Dayak working single mothers are heavy workloads and achieving targets at work. Majority of the Dayak working single mothers cope with their stress by going to church as well as taking the time-off at least once a year. The effect of constant stress at work has taken a toll on their body which cause the working single mothers to have migraines and fever which will decrease their job performance in the organization.
