Abstract

Reading comprehension and reading skills are basic skills that an individual must master in the process of learning reading comprehension. The studies focus on reading comprehension, reading skills and reading comprehension among primary and secondary school students in Kuching and Sarawak. A total of 862 primary school children participated in the study. The research instrument used to measure reading fluency, reading skills and reading comprehension is a test of reading fluency, reading skills and reading fluency have been used. 'Pearson correlation' has been used to analyze the extent to which two variables are linearly related; 1. To study the relationship between reading comprehension and reading comprehension in Malay language among primary school students and 2. To study the relationship between reading skills and reading comprehension in Malay language among primary school students. In addition, 'Multiple linear regression' is also used to predict the results of variables;, How read fluency and reading skills can help in reading comprehension in Malay language among primary school students. The findings are consistent with the studies conducted by the researchers, stating that fluency of reading and reading skills are very important skills in reading comprehension. Further discussions were made in exploring the implications of this study on training and teaching styles that are more jells by primary school teachers.
