Abstract

This study aims to study socio-spatial experience and learning barriers faced by dwarf students in Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS). This study is a case study that utilize interview which consist of experience and opinion when accessing learning facilities in UNIMAS and photo elicitation to capture and record on how dwarf students accessing learning spaces and facilities in UNIMAS. Using purposive sampling, 2 students from Faculty of Cognitive Science and Human Development and Faculty of Social Science were gathered for this study. The result of the study shows that there are effects on learning such as vision, communication, interaction, reading and examination when learning facilities are disable for dwarf students. Therefore, it is important for learning environment to modify its facilities to be suitable for different size and shape, follow universal design.
