Abstract

Three types of hydrazone ligand were synthesized by direct condensation reaction by using (99%) ethanol as the standard solvent. Ligand (1) was synthesized by direct reaction of methyl-2-pyridyl ketone with isonicotinic acid hydrazide. Ligand (2) was synthesized by direct reaction of vanilin with isonicotinic acid hydrazide. Ligand (3) has been synthesized by direct reaction of methyl-2-pyridylhydrazine with methyl-2­ pyridylketone. Three types of butyltin (IV) complexes were synthesized by direct reaction of BuSnCb with ligand (1), ligand (2) and ligand (3) respectively. All ligands and complexes were characterized by various spectral studies such as CHN analysis, UV-visible, FTIR, IH_NMR spectroscopy and molar conductance.
