Abstract

The purpose of this study is to investigate the level of perception and the factors of career development based on demographic characteristic. This studies have been proceed in UNIMAS, Kota Samarahan, Sarawak It is to determine the differences of significance which can influence the factors of career development based on demographic characteristic. The factors of career development that was investigated are job fit, training and development, supervision and recognition meanwhile the demographic characteristic are gender, age, race, educational level, and length of service. The respondent of this research consists of the support staff at UNIMAS. Finding shows that majority of the employees have a higher level of perception towards career development within their organization. It also shows that there is a significant relationship between gender factors and job fit factors. Otherwise there is no significant relationship between factors of gender with other factors which includes training and development, supervision and recognition. The other characteristic like age, race, level of educational and length of service shows no differences of significant with the factors of career development Besides that, researcher also suggest for future researcher to use other kind of method for collecting data such as qualitative method and the research should focuses on one factors. This is to make the study of research more attractive.
