Abstract

Neolamarckia cadambais also known as kelampayan that have various advant ages, especially in the timber industry and medi cine. Unfo rtunately, less of genetic information about gene that's in volved in wood formati on o f kelampayan . The expressed sequence anal ysis of kelampayan was re-annotated to discover new gene that present in the plant by using bioinfonuati cs tool such as Bl ast2GO that can produce high throughput functi onal annotation and analysis gcne sequence. The annotated sequence was identified and the increasing in the number of new gene also has been discovered in the ESTs of kelampayan. 3,541 ESTs (74.77%) from 4,736 of the total ESTs have a putative function against NCBl databases and 1,1 95 ESTs (25 .23%) have no signifi cant similaIity. 9.447 gene ontology (GO) term was distributed in three different Gene Ontology cat egories, which were 4,481 in biological process, 2,256 in molecular function and 2,71 0 in cellular component. Most ab undant transcript with known function was found in this databas e was increasing in numb er are 60s ribosomal protein and 40s ribosomal pro tei n. Some of the genes related to wood formati on where also found in NcdbEST. These include lignin biosynthetic gene, cellulose biosynthetic gene, cell-wall structural gene, stress-responsive gene, a gene that related in wat er defrcit response, plant defense and signal transduction pathway and transcription factor. New discovered gene ean be used to identify single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) and simple sequ ence repeat (SSR) for better understanding o f the mechanism controlling wood formation of kelampayan.
