Abstract

This study aims to investigate the motive of silver carved in the state of Kelantan. This study focuses on the motifs found in each piece silver. Silver carved is one of the most unique crafts and a variety of motives. The objective of this study were (a) identify the meaning of the motif in silver carvings, (b) Review the techniques and manufacturing processes in KB Permai silver carving and DY Silver Craft, and (c) Review the motives carved silver produced by craftsmen in KB gorgeous and DY Silver Craft. The method used was the qualitative method is through observation and interviews. The findings can be concluded that the unique and special works of art in Kelantan silver to natural flora and fauna motifs meet the tastes and needs of the community that applies the carved silver for daily use and as decorative items.
