Abstract

This study demonstrates that the locus D 17S5 is highly polymorphic in Melanau population sample of UNIMAS. There are 14 different 017S5 alleles and eight distinct genotypes were observed in 32 Melanau individuals. Three alleles observed were smaller that the known range of allele sizes. Allele frequency distribution ranged from 0.02 to 0.34, observed homozygosity is 0.8065 and observed heterozygosity is 0.1935.
