Abstract

Shoppers could not make accurate estimation of the total price for items they added into the cart while shopping. Hence, “Shopping Cart Calculator Using Barcode Scanner with Arduino” is proposed and designed to function as a price tracker which is able to total up all scanned items’ prices automatically. In order to build the shopping cart calculator, the 3 existing system which are Smart Trolley for Smart Shopping Smart Trolley using Smart Phone and Arduino, Human Friendly Smart Trolley with Automatic, and Billing System were reviewed. Not only that, the questionnaire survey was conducted among 30 respondent to collect the user requirement of the proposed system. The “Shopping Cart Calculator Using Barcode Scanner with Arduino” is able to deduct the price if the user removes the selected items from their cart. User can estimate their budget and avoid overspending. The data will be processed and submitted to the web on devices through Arduino with the Wi-Fi module. The web application will retrieve the data from databases and record into the item list to calculate the total items amount. Shopping Cart Calculator Using Barcode Scanner with Arduino is implemented to help the shoppers to make accurate estimation of the total price for items they added into the cart while shopping. This is to avoid overspending. All the requirements of the system are implemented based on the design proposed. In addition, the objectives proposed have been achieved as intended. The primary recommendation of this project is to design a system which only rely on one standalone device instead of connecting it to the customer mobile phone as a display unit.
