Abstract

Internet acts the main source of information is gaining attention in all fields as it has great potential to search and improve human knowledge especially in educational field to promote modernization of the education. However, some rural area at Sabah and Sarawak in Malaysia encounter broadband internet access problem and lack of'suitable educational content. Government had provided the laptops to the secondary school students in rural area might be hampered by lack of the Internet connection. This report proposed a Low Cost, Portable, Qffline Educational Content and Self-Learning Platform (POLES system). It is a web based system based on Raspberi y Pi acts as a seºvver to store all the educational content. The students can surf for related educational content in offline mode by "onrýcýcýtcýtl the technologvv device such as laptop to the Raspberry Pi's. The educational content will he selected and retrieved, from the Wikipedia for school and the Gutenberg Ehook. Besides, students can hroºtse, for the extra knowledge based on their own interest, attitude and curiosity. for self-improvement. This system also provides a self-learning platfbrm with the quiz session and badge system. Student can browse to the system with their own account to keep track their reading record and the badge record.
