Abstract

Malay proverbs are metaphors used by the Malay community in the past. The main purposeof the creation of Malay proverbs is to advise and reprimand someone. Various elements of theenvironment are used to make comparisons with humans. The objective of this study is tolist Malay proverbs that use the element of color, categorize the color used in Malay proverbs, identify the implicit meaning of the use of color used in Malay proverbs, and analyzethe vii existence of philosophy and common sense in the use of color elements used inMalayproverbs. . This study uses inquisitive semantic analysis to describe the meaning of the useof color elements in Malay proverbs. In this study, the element of color will be classifiedaccording to the type of color to describe the true meaning of its use in Malay proverbs. Atotal of 10 Malay proverb data using color elements will be analyzed using inquisitivesemantic analysis. The results show that each element of color used in Malay proverbs hasitsown meaning according to the use of other elements in the Malay proverb.
