Abstract

One of the most fundamental pillars in the Islamic faith is prayer or known as Solat. The prayers are five times on a daily basis as a Muslim, which are known as Solat al-fajr, Solat al-zuhr, Solat al-‘asr, Solat al-maghrib, and Solat al-‘isha. Therefore, it is crucial to have prayer notification technology in order to inform and call Muslims to present their solat. Various technologies and software applications have been designed and developed to perform prayer notification applications aside from adzan called at the mosque. Nowadays, most prayer notifications are basically based on mobile apps that are easily downloaded and able to alert Muslim users on prayer times. On the other hand, another alternative technology to notify the prayer times is through a light notification system that places at the minaret of the mosque. Not only to notify of prayer times, but this light notification also brought an aesthetic touch to the mosque, which may attract Muslims to the Mosque and present their prayer in the congregation. Ir Dr Kasumawati Lias and teams has developed light notification system at Masjid Kampung Lintang, Kuching, Sarawak. However, there are certain limitations that need to be improved. Hence, this project is conducted to enhance the current light notification system, especially in terms of auto-sync prayer times at two different locations. Arduino UNO is used as a controller to control the RGB light, while all the coding is written in Arduino IDE software, where all the data, especially the location and prayer times, are provided. Based on the results, the automatic RGB light controller for Muslim Prayer Notification is successfully carried out with two selected locations; Miri and Kota Samarahan. The prayer times also can be run for the whole year, and no regular updates are required. However, there are certain limitations, where the system locations need to be input manually by the users. In summary, these project objectives are successfully accomplished.
