Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine the use of social media in the development of socialization in addition to facing industrial training and readiness for full -time students in Sarawak in using social media to find information on industrial training and student behavior on the possibility of finding employment through social media. Questionnaires were given to 200 respondents consisting of Year 2 and Year students who are studying at Unimas. The questionnaire used in this study involves four parts, namely part A related to the demographics of the respondents, part B, C, and D involved questions about the use of social media in the search for industrial training information. The statistical analysis used in this study is descriptive analysis and also inferential analysis namely Pearson Correlation and Multiple Regression. The results of this study found that the mean value of students' perceptions in seeking employment information through social media was positive with a mean of 4.3440. As for the effectiveness of the use of LinkedIn application in preparation for finding industry training information, it was found that a total of 97 respondents stated that LinkedIn is very effective for them. In addition, for students' behavior on the importance of self-presentation on social media from the perspective of industrial training information search was found R2 = .575, F (3, 196) = 88.425, p = 0.000 < 0.05 showed that through the use of social media, career exploration and career self -management it has an influence on career self -efficacy. The findings of this study can provide extensive information and knowledge to both practitioners and future researchers for the purpose of improving the effectiveness of career self-management.
