Abstract

This study focused on a land snailPincerna globosa that occupies limestone hills in the western part of Sarawak. This study was conducted due to only a few Pincerna species were studied, a nd diagnoses were frequently made without sufficient comparability across congeners from Borneo. In this study, the main a im is to compare the morphological characters of the species Pincerna globosaof different populations in the western part of Sarawak. The sampling was conducted in Gua Raya, Serian and Wind Cave Nature Reserve, Bau. Active search for snails were conducted at both sampling areas. Based on our findings, we f ound that there is variation of morphological assessment of thetwo different populations of the species. The correlation coefficient between shell height (SH) and shell width (SW) is weakly correlated with 05746. The connection between apertural height (AH) and apertural width (AW) is moderately correlated with 0.7562. Strong association exists between the shell diameter (D) and shell height (H) correlation coefficients with 0.8354. The average width of the silhouette is 0.33, indicating that the cluster structure is well-configured overall. I n conclusion, there are significant differences between the morphological patterns of two different populations of species Pincena globosa. We suggest forfuturestudy it is recommended to use larger sample sizes f or each species to acquire better a understanding on shell variation of Pincerna.
