Abstract

Home-based food businesses use their home to handle food for sale. This includes preparing food for local markets or school canteens, catering for events or childcare businesses and online food sales from home. As a home-based food vendor, consumer health must take priority as it holds our reputation as home-based food vendor. The aim of this study to evaluate the food safety knowledge, attitudes, and practices among home-based food vendors in Sarawak. A randomized descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted by targeting 88 home-based food vendors in area of Southern Sarawak. The method used in statistical analysis are descriptive statistics, chi-square, and one-way ANOVA with significant different 95%, (p < 0.05). As for results of this study, the level of knowledge, attitudes, and practices are grading as “good” score. Thus, an improvising of food safety, attitudes, and practices among food suppliers is required to minimize risk cross-contamination.
