Abstract

This study was conducted to identify the perspective of Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) female student’s satisfaction towards their body weight and its impact. Every woman has their own perspective about their body weight. The objective of this study is to explore the perspective of Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) female student’s ideal body weight. This study was conducted towards seven female students of Universiti Malaysia Sarawak from different races and body weight by using online interview to collect the data. The finding shows that these female students have different perspective about their ideal body weight. There are also positive and negative effects that the respondents have encountered when they are in the process of having their desired weight in terms of mental health and physical health. Researcher also finds that there are few factors which are self-assessment and the assessment of other people that causes these female students to satisfy or not with their body weight. This study give a great impact towards counselling proffession where the counsellor can learn and understands more about clients who face the same issue as this study. In conclusion, this study shows that each female student have their different perspective and ideal body weight even they have almost the same height with one another.
