Abstract

Technology plays an important role in education as the advancement of technology has inspired many innovations and improvements in education system. Currently, augmented reality (AR) is seen as one of the technologies that could make a massive impact in education field. The visual and interactive nature of AR that allows digital contents to be projected into a user’s perspective has a huge potential as an educational tool. Useful simulations can be created to help students to stay focused and engaged while learning, especially in children. Difficult to observe objects such as aquatic animals can be simulated using AR to allow children to learn something new in a novel way. While AR can be developed on various platforms, delivering AR experience through mobile application is a viable option as AR on smartphones continues to improve. AR is a technology that has many potentials and promises and ultimately, it is up to researchers to ensure they are fulfilled. In this project, an AR Android mobile application for children will be built to help children to learn about aquatic animals.
