Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the factors that influence job performance among secondary school teachers. Data were obtained from 120 teachers from SMK Sri Sadong and SMK Simunjan No. 1 in Sarawak. These data were analyzed using descriptive statistical methods and inferential statistics. Reliability analysis, correlation coef icient, hypothesis testing and also using multiple regression. The findings show that there is a moderately strong relationship between productive behavior and job performance among secondary school teachers. In addition, there is a moderately strong relationship between values and performance among secondary school teachers. The findings of the study also found that there is a moderately strong relationship between ability and job performance among secondary school teachers. There is a moderately strong relationship between colleague attitude and job performance among secondary school teachers. For the next finding there is a moderately strong relationship between leadership style and job performance among secondary school teachers. Furthermore, there is a very weak relationship between facilities and job performance among secondary school teachers. This study shows that leadership style is the dominant factor that influences job performance among secondary school teachers. This study contributes to the existing knowledge of teachers in Malaysia. This study has also increased the knowledge of teachers and human resource managers about the work performance of employees in Sarawak. The findings of this study can also improve the quality so that the organization can achieve employee performance.
