Abstract

A study on the gut content analysis of razor Clam (Solen regularis) was carried out in Kuching Bay, Sarawak. Buntal and Bako beaches were chosen in this study. The main objective of this study was to find the gut content of razor clam from two different study areas. As a result, three groups of organism were found in the razor clam gut namely phytoplankton (diatom, dino flagellates, silicoflagellates, cyanobacteria and chlorophyta), zooplankton and benthic organisms. The dominant genera of diatom found in the gut were Cyclotella sp., Chaetoceros sp, and Coscinodiscus sp. While, Foraminifera was the dominant taxa ofbenthic organisms found in the razor clam gut. The data obtained in this study would be useful for future razor clam study in Kuching Bay, Sarawak.
