Abstract

An organization’s road to success is highly dependent on the workforce or employees. It is critical to identify sources to increase employees’ performance. This study aims to study the relationship between extrinsic rewards and employees’ performance in one of the hotels in Melaka. Employees working in one of the hotels in Melaka were chosen as the target respondents of this study. Questionnaires in the form of Google Form were used as a primary source in data collection. A 4-Point Likert Scale was utilized to measure the items in the study. As for data analysis, SPSS software version 20 was used to analyse and interpret the collected data. In inferential statistics, Pearson Correlation and Multiple Linear Regression test was conducted. It is found that all of the dimensions of extrinsic rewards, salary, bonus, promotion and benefit is positively correlated to employees’ performance. Although there are previous studies about this topic, the dimensions of extrinsic rewards provided by every organization is different. This study will help to reduce the research gap and provide even more basis for future researches. This study could also provide Human Resource practitioners with more information and knowledge about increasing employees’ performance through extrinsic rewards especially for those working in the hotel industry. Thus, rewards can applied to align with business strategy.
